Brand owners address target groups with versioned signage. It enables them to adopt regional, cultural and other differences. From the perspective of the printer, these requests are often challenging, unless the printer has optimal production automation, and is able to handle the finishing himself.
Dutch company JMC Signmakers has taken a giant step forward to more profitable automation. The company added Esko i-Cut Automate to its production platform. It is now able to rapidly produce personalized signs with variable text, photos, logos or other characteristics.
i-cut Automate is workflow automation software for the digital finishing industry. It automates repetitive prepress tasks, enhances productivity and reduces operator intervention and errors. As a result it saves valuable time, money and materials in the manufacturing process.
Not only has JMC Signmakers been able to expand its own business. They also provide services to other sign makers. “We can handle pre-production and deliver complete production files to other signmakers, enabling them to complete orders they would not have been able to produce profitably in the past.” concludes Bolijn.

Rapidly producing versioned signage
Cees Bolijn, co-owner of JMC Signage cites an example. The sign maker processed an order of 1.500 banners with 11 different designs. Each banner had a unique name and run. “We now have that job prepared, with files nested and ready to print, in less than four hours, where it would have taken us more than a day prior to implementing i-Cut Automate from Esko,” he says.

Finishing off with a digital cutting machine
The additional acquisition of a cutting table enabled JMC to considerably expand its product range. Bolijn explains: “We purchased an i-XL44 digital cutting table, which we consider the best milling and cutting table in the marketplace. We are able to process a wide variety of materials and products.”
