Packaging design goes beyond ensuring that consumers can safely transport products from the store to their home. It’s about making a product stand out on the shelves, getting consumers to pick up the product and convincing them to purchase it. It’s common knowledge among packaging industry professionals that more than half of consumers buy a product purely because of its packaging.

Packaging designs that think outside the box

It goes without saying that a great part of a product’s manufacturing process is dedicated to packaging design. And the results can be pretty creative, to say the least. Here’s a short overview of some of the funniest and most creative packaging designs we found on the market today. (By the way, they all have one thing in common: none of them are actually what they seem at first glance. Talk about thinking outside the box!)

1.     Don’t forget to scoop

We bet this packaging design made you chuckle! Taking your dog out for a walk? Don’t forget to scoop the poop! Simply pull a bag from – well, use a bag, that’s all we’re saying.

2.     Are you eating paint?!

Prank your friends by tricking them into believing you’re eating paint – and enjoy a delicious chocolate treat while you’re at it!

3.     Sockbrushes

Happy birthday, dad! I wanted to get you something other than socks this year, so I got you these paintbrushes. Pretty cool, huh?

4.     That bird ate my cereal!

Froot Loops had the clever idea to make their packaging look like a toucan. Seriously, how cute is this?

5.     Buying a belly full of pasta
