Consumers are busy, busy, busy. Which means copywriters are up for a challenge in 2017. While brand storytelling
remains on trend, copy will be less chatty. Clear labeling
and concise copywriting

2. Doing the absolute minimum … in a good way
Minimalist packaging design
is nothing new, but in 2017 it is forecast to really take centre stage. Consumers are shopping more consciously, preferring sustainable packaging
over ‘regular’, wasteful packaging. Looks like multi-wrapping products with layers and layers of packaging are on their way out.
3. It’s hip to be square. Or triangular. Or …
Minimalism and geometry go hand in hand. It’s no wonder, then, that graphic design in 2017 will mostly revolve around repeated geometric patterns
and Euclidean shapes. Often combined with a subdued colour palette, this trend is surely going to make its presence felt … but ever so subtly.
4. Bathroom-shelf ready packaging
Have you always found it such a pity to buy an expensive product when no one can actually see you using it? Enter ‘bathroom-shelf ready’ packaging design. Consumers are no longer hiding their cosmetic products
away in cabinets or under the sink. Instead, they’re proudly putting their prestige items on display
beside the bathroom sink and on the shelves. In other words, packaging designers in 2017 will be doing their best to make sure their packaging design stands out not only on the store shelves, but in the consumer’s bathroom as well.
